Questions answered

Lens upgrade FAQs

Everything you need to know before sending us your glasses.

Can you fit new lenses into my existing glasses?

Yes, provided your glasses are a suitable full-rim plastic or full-rim metal frame, remain in good condition and still contain the prescription lenses you have previously worn.

Why must my existing lenses stay in the frame?

Your existing lenses allow us to take important fitting and centration measurements from glasses you already wear successfully. Please do not remove them before sending your frame.

Do I need to send a copy of my current prescription?

Yes. You can upload it during the LensAdvisor process or email it to us after placing your order. We must receive a clear, current copy before glazing begins.

How should I package my glasses?

Place your glasses inside a protective case, then place that case inside a sturdy outer box with suitable packing material. Do not send glasses in a soft envelope or mailing bag alone.

How will my glasses be returned?

Your completed glasses will be carefully packaged and returned using Royal Mail Tracked.

What happens if my frame is not suitable?

We inspect the frame before glazing. If we do not believe it can be reglazed safely, we will contact you before work begins.

Can I still buy a new frame from Burghley & Co?

Absolutely. This service is simply for customers who already have a frame they want to keep. You can browse our full collection of new designer frames at any time.

Can you reglaze varifocal lenses?

Varifocal suitability depends on the frame, prescription and measurements available from your existing glasses. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure.

Can I choose thinner lenses or Transitions?

Yes, subject to your prescription and frame suitability. Available upgrades can be selected during the LensAdvisor process.

What if I am unsure which frame type I have?

Send us a clear photograph of the front and side of your glasses before ordering and we will advise you.
