Transition lenses are photochromic lenses that react to UV light. Outdoors, the lenses darken automatically in bright conditions and gradually return to clear indoors.

Are Transitions® and photochromic lenses the same?

Transitions® is the best-known photochromic lens brand. Photochromic lenses automatically darken outdoors in UV light and return clear indoors.

Do photochromic lenses work in the car?

Most standard photochromic lenses only partially darken behind a car windscreen because it blocks much of the UV light needed to activate them.

Can I have photochromic varifocal lenses?

Yes. Photochromic lenses are available in single vision, bifocal and varifocal designs, depending on your prescription.
